Getting Started

I found it extremely easy to make my own web site by following these instructions. Hopefully you will, too! (Go to www.socksthedog.com/frontpage to see my site!)

  1. Download free template (click to download now!)
You will be asked if you want to Run or Save the program. Go ahead and Save the program to your desktop.
  2. Run the installer
Double-click on the installer icon on your desktop. This will bring up some dialog boxes that will help to install the theme package files to the correct places on your computer. Run through the prompts to install.
  3. Create a new starter web site using the web template
    1. FP 2000: Go to File > New > Web.
FP 2002: Go to File > New > Page or Web. Click on "Web Site Templates" in the right column.
FP 2003: Go to File > New. Click on "More Web Site Templates" in the right column.
    2. Choose the "TestDrive" web template from your list of web templates.  (In FP2003, it's possible that this template is listed under the "My Templates" tab.)
    3. The dropdown menu shows the location of where your new web will be created. Yours will probably be in your "My Webs" folder and will be called "myweb1" or something similar. You may choose a different location if you want.
    4. Click OK. FrontPage will now create your new web. Do not disturb FrontPage while it is creating the new web. You can see FrontPage copying files, applying the theme, and performing other tasks in the lower left status bar. When it stops, you are ready to begin editing your new web!
  4. Edit your site and finally publish it.
